In the field of robotics, mobile AGVs have become a hot topic. Their advanced technology was first introduced in the logistics industry, offering significant convenience for warehousing and supply chain management. These machines are replacing human labor, increasing efficiency, and driving technological innovation within the sector.
Recently, Shanghai hosted a major robotic event, with CeMAT, one of Asia’s largest international exhibitions in material handling and logistics technology, drawing global attention. Following the high standards set by the Hannover Logistics Exhibition in Germany, this event showcased numerous leading robot companies, highlighting the growing competition in the sector.

The technological revolution driven by robots is reshaping warehouse and logistics management. After Amazon acquired the Kiva System, it deployed over 45,000 robots in just five years, demonstrating the power of automation. As an essential part of manufacturing, warehousing and logistics are moving toward full automation and intelligence, which is now a global trend.
At the 19th China International Industry Fair, held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai, the robot exhibition (RS 2017) attracted over 300 exhibitors across a massive 56,000-square-meter space. This event became a stage where various robots competed to showcase their “smart†technologies and innovations.
From the exhibitions, it's clear that while new players continue to emerge, the intelligent warehousing and flexible logistics industry has begun to take shape. The top four companies—Haibao, GEEK+, Hikvision, and Standard Robots—are leading the way with cutting-edge technology and strong product development plans.
Haibao, one of the top national robot companies, gained fame during the Shanghai World Expo. Its Zeng Cheng intelligent cruise robot was included in the National 863 Program. At CeMAT, Haibao launched its first domestic mobile robot platform, "GRACE," enabling users to quickly develop various intelligent mobile robots. This move strengthens its ecosystem and positions it as a key player in the industry.
GEEK+ has been gaining attention in the capital market, achieving three rounds of financing in two years. Its applications span e-commerce, medical, and retail sectors. The fifth-generation robot, launched after CeMAT, upgraded from QR code navigation to more advanced visual SLAM navigation, signaling a bold move against industry leaders like Amazon.
Hikvision, a listed company, holds a significant share in storage robots. Recently, it introduced SLAM navigation unmanned forklifts, composite robots, and DWS systems. Its DWS system integrates self-developed smart camera, laser stereo camera, and dynamic weighing modules, enabling real-time data collection and processing.
Standard Robots, though younger than its competitors, made a strong debut at the Industry Fair. Their products, such as the backpack-type Oasis robot and forklift robot, can handle industrial tasks without requiring any scene modifications. The Massif inspection robot excels in complex environments, collecting comprehensive data through video, image, micro-meteorology, and sound.
Beyond SLAM and beacon positioning, Standard Robots also offers industrial 4.0 flexible manufacturing solutions, earning praise from professionals. According to TracTica, global warehouse and logistics robot shipments are expected to rise from 40,000 units in 2016 to 620,000 by 2021, with market revenue growing tenfold.
Despite these opportunities, domestic companies face challenges from foreign competitors. To succeed, they must not only build technical barriers but also improve product reliability and understand specific customer needs.
As Wang Huaiqing, founder of Standard Robots, stated, the intelligent manufacturing robot market is promising, but innovation and independent technology will determine long-term success. Companies must focus on internal strength and stay responsive to market changes. Collaboration across the industry is essential for continued growth and development.
