Recently, Xinjiang witnessed the launch of its inaugural VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) Applications Expo in Urumqi's Xinjiang Software Park. Concurrently, the Xinjiang Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Industry Alliance was officially established. This new alliance aims to drive the growth of Xinjiang's burgeoning virtual technology sector.
On the third floor of the software park, I had the chance to witness citizen Wang Qiang trying out the latest AR technology. He remarked, "This is incredible. When I put on these glasses, it feels like having a portable computer right before me. You can use your fingers to perform various tasks, making everyday life much easier. I believe this tech will become mainstream soon, and I’m excited about what the future holds."
VR and AR started gaining recognition around 2016. As industry experts explain, "VR immerses you entirely in a virtual environment where you only see simulated images, blocking out the real world. AR, on the other hand, overlays digital elements onto the actual surroundings. So, you first perceive reality, then see additional information or visuals added to it."
Currently, both VR and AR technologies are finding practical applications across various sectors, significantly boosting productivity. In fields like security, they enhance efficiency dramatically. In healthcare, they enable remote guidance for surgeries or training when specialists aren’t physically present. Inspections in industries like oil, electricity, and petrochemicals are becoming more precise and error-free, improving overall performance by 30-50%.
Xinjiang Dayu Interactive Software Technology Co., Ltd. spearheaded the formation of the Xinjiang Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Industry Alliance. The company’s CEO, Qiao Jie, emphasized, "By initiating this alliance, we hope to contribute to Xinjiang’s development by fostering collaboration within the industry. Virtual and augmented reality have transformed how we work and live, and we’re eager to bring together companies to share resources and technological advancements. Our goal is to push forward AR and VR adoption throughout Xinjiang."
