Xinjiang Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Industry Alliance Formally Established

Just back from covering an exciting event in Urumqi—the inaugural Xinjiang VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) Application Exhibition, held within the premises of Xinjiang Software Park. This exhibition wasn't just about showcasing cutting-edge tech; it marked the official formation of the Xinjiang Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Industry Alliance. This alliance aims to accelerate the growth of Xinjiang's burgeoning virtual technology sector. On the third floor of the park, I met citizen Wang Qiang, who was trying out the latest AR tech. With a look of wonder on his face, he said, "It’s incredible! Once you put on these glasses, it’s like having a portable computer right in front of you. You can use your fingers to do everything—just like magic. I believe this technology will soon become widespread, and I’m really excited about what the future holds." VR and AR started gaining popularity around 2016. An industry expert explained, "VR immerses you in a completely virtual environment where you don’t see the real world. AR, however, overlays digital elements onto your actual surroundings. So, you first see the real world, and then additional information or images appear, enhancing your experience—it’s literally adding to reality." Currently, both VR and AR are being integrated into various industries, boosting productivity significantly. For instance, in security, they help streamline processes; in medicine, they enable remote guidance during surgeries or training sessions. Experts far away can assist local doctors without being physically present. In sectors like oil, electricity, and petrochemicals, inspections and logistics management are becoming more precise and efficient, with improvements ranging from 30% to 50%. Mistakes are minimized, and overall accuracy is enhanced. The Xinjiang Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Industry Alliance, spearheaded by Xinjiang Dayu Interactive Software Technology Co., Ltd., is set to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation and collaboration in Xinjiang. Qiao Jie, the company’s leader, shared, "We initiated this alliance with Xinjiang’s development in mind. Virtual reality, including AR and VR applications, spans numerous industries and has already transformed how we work and live. We want to bring companies together, share resources, and push for advancements in Xinjiang’s AR and VR technologies." Stay tuned as I continue to cover developments in the virtual reality and augmented reality space across China. Exciting times lie ahead!
