To address these challenges, Fu Yao launched the "Ctrl-A" project, aiming to provide intelligent solutions for online IP protection. The SaaS platform utilizes neural network technology to train AI models to recognize and detect infringing content. Through continuous comparison, iterative learning, and model refinement, the system maintains an accuracy rate exceeding 97%, with false positives and negatives kept below 3%.
What sets Ctrl-A apart is its ability to identify subtle forms of infringement that traditional image comparison tools miss—such as fake versions, missing elements, Q-version characters, low-resolution images, and even real-person imitations. This advanced AI capability makes it a powerful tool in the fight against digital piracy.
The platform operates around the clock, automatically scanning the web for potential infringements and handling the entire process—from detection to post-incident rights protection. This automation helps combat the decentralized nature of online IP violations and ensures better protection for IP owners.
Currently, the Ctrl-A team has developed search platforms integrated with major e-commerce sites such as Tmall, Taobao, Alibaba, No. 1 Shop, Jingdong, and Dangdang. They have also partnered with well-known animation IPs like Black Cat Sheriff, Gourd Doll, and Big Ear Map.
For example, the Black Cat Sheriff IP was previously facing over 1,000 pirated links per month. After implementing Ctrl-A’s solution, the number of infringing links dropped significantly, demonstrating the platform's effectiveness.
In terms of revenue, Ctrl-A generates income through four main channels: SaaS subscriptions for IP holders, fees for using the platform, profit-sharing from crowdsourced clues, and revenue from genuine distribution and licensing. Additionally, they offer settlement services for IP-related disputes.
On the team side, Fu Yao, the founder, holds a doctorate in engineering and a bachelor’s degree in law from Shanghai Jiaotong University. He has made significant contributions to the field of intellectual property and has served as a legal advisor to numerous companies, helping them secure over 30 million yuan in government funding and reduce tax liabilities by more than 100 million yuan.
The CTO, Lin Xiang, is a Ph.D. in Information Technology from the same university. Over the past three years, he has filed 3 national invention patents and 6 software copyrights. He Xiang, the strategic consultant, specializes in business logic analysis and is well-versed in the trends of the TMT (technology, media, and telecommunications) industry.
Ctrl-A previously secured 1 million RMB in seed funding and is currently raising 5 million RMB in an angel round, primarily for team expansion and marketing efforts.
Looking ahead, the company plans to deepen its focus on the animation industry, acquire more IP resources, enhance its core algorithms for specific infringement scenarios, and build a platform for the wholesale and licensing of genuine IP derivatives.
