As reported, Jingdong Payment has successfully integrated popular facial recognition technology into offline payment systems. The "face-scanning payment" function at Jingdong Home allows for precise, rapid, and user-friendly access to facial information, completing a transaction in roughly two seconds.
According to JD.com’s data, the "face-scanning payment" technology at Jingdong Home is an internally developed brand by JD.com's R&D department, leveraging artificial intelligence, deep learning, and face recognition technologies. The face recognition algorithm used by Jingdong Home boasts an accuracy rate of 99.9%. Users and merchants alike can easily apply to activate the face-scanning payment service.
To use the "face-scanning payment," users must first scan a QR code via the JD app or JD Finance app to complete real-name verification and upload a frontal photo. This enables them to enable the "face-scanning payment" option within JD Pay. The face-scanning payment combines biometric identification with mobile number verification for dual-factor authentication, ensuring enhanced security for user transactions.
Specifically, during the payment process, users simply need to input the last four digits of their mobile number on the screen of the scanning device, face the camera to capture their facial information, and the system automatically compares it against the stored data. Once identity verification is confirmed, clicking "OK" completes the transaction.

During this test phase, the aim is to gather user feedback and refine the service for future iterations.
