The global power semiconductor and management solutions leader – International Rectifier expands the Strong IR FET family to provide 20V to 30V devices for applications such as high performance computing and communications. The IR L6283M20VDirectFET is the key component of this family with very low on-resistance (RDS(on)).

The IR L6283M is housed in an ultra-thin 30mm2 medium tank DirectFET package with a typical on-resistance of only 500μΩ, which significantly reduces conduction losses, making it ideal for dynamic ORing and electronic fuse (eFuse) applications. The new device can operate from 3.3V, 5V or 12V rails, reducing losses by up to 15% in best-in-class PQFN devices in 20A current and the same 30mm2 package, enabling designers to reduce devices in high current applications. Like other devices in the DirectFET family, the IRL6283M offers top-side cooling for effective electrical and thermal performance, and a bond-free design for improved reliability. In addition, the DirectFET package meets all the requirements of the Electronic Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations, such as a completely lead-free bill of materials for long life cycle designs. The same high-performance package contains high-lead dies, which are subject to the exemption under Section 7(a) of the Electronic Hazardous Substances Control Regulations, but this waiver will expire in 2016.
