2017 China IoT Technology Innovation Award nomination: Qualcomm MDM9206 Modem

According to a recent report from the globally recognized research institute IDC, the number of IoT connections worldwide is projected to hit 30 billion by 2020. Cisco's latest findings also suggest that by 2025, the global IoT sector could account for as much as 11% of the global economy. Raj Talluri, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm IoT, noted: "Every day, we supply over one million IoT chips. Approximately 1.5 billion connected devices across the globe utilize Qualcomm’s IoT technology." Both domestic and international experts are not just observing the growth in IoT numbers but also the diversification of terminal types. They anticipate that the IoT will profoundly influence the real economy and various industries. In October 2015, Qualcomm unveiled the MDM9206 modem, which supports both Cat M1/NB-1 dual modes. This modem initially supports LTE Category M1 (eMTC) and can be upgraded to support Cat M1/NB-1 dual mode through anticipated software updates. This allows IoT products to function across a variety of carrier networks worldwide, ensuring extensive global coverage. It’s clear that when Qualcomm designed its IoT product development solutions, they were already leaning towards dual-mode, multi-mode, or even full-network communication, since the MDM9206 is also compatible with 4G LTE and even 2G GSM networks, ensuring connection stability and application reliability. As a global connectivity solution for battery-powered Sensors, the MDM9206 modem is tailored for the IoT, offering lower power consumption and longer-range connections compared to previous generations of LTE products. The Qualcomm MDM9206 modem received the 2017 China IoT Technology Innovation Award due to its technological leadership and broad applicability to IoT applications. The Qualcomm MDM9206 modem has been adopted by more than ten clients, including companies like Simcom, Miyuan, ZTE, Meige Intelligent, Longshang Technology, Shanghai Shike, Youfang Technology, Qijun Shares, Wide-wing Communication, and Huayu IOT. It is known that Qualcomm, China Mobile Research Institute, and Mobike launched a field trial for an LTE IoT multi-mode solution in China back in May 2017. The goal was to integrate the Qualcomm MDM9206 LTE modem into Mobike’s smart lock, enhancing its LTE connectivity and global navigation satellite positioning capabilities. This improved the smart lock’s unlocking speed and provided continuous monitoring and real-time management. Industry Leadership: 1. The advantage lies in the integration of Cat-M1 and Cat-NB1, supporting three standards: Cat-M1, Cat-NB1, and E-GPRS, with related modules already released. 2. It enables low-cost, low-power, low-bandwidth, wide-coverage IoT products and services, helping module manufacturers create IoT products with maximum cost-effectiveness. Key Points of Innovation: It incorporates the Cortex A7 processor and does not require an external processor. It supports voice functions, has a power-saving mode, and features eDRX technology, continuously extending LTE functionality. Additionally, the multi-mode design paves the way for 5G IoT. Qualcomm: Qualcomm is a global leader in 3G, 4G, and next-generation wireless technologies, playing a crucial role in driving innovation in mobile and adjacent industries. For over 30 years, Qualcomm’s technology has revolutionized smartphones, connecting billions of people. We’ve made pioneering contributions to 3G and 4G and are now leading the way toward a new era of intelligent networking terminals with 5G. Our products are transforming industries such as automotive, computing, IoT, healthcare, and data centers, enabling millions of interconnected terminals in unimaginable ways. 2017 China IoT Conference Introduction: The China IoT Conference, organized by Huaqiang Jufeng’s Million Electronic Engineer Platform Electronic Enthusiasts Network, has successfully held three sessions. AS-i Passive Distributor

The AS-I (i.e. actuator-sensor interface) bus belongs to the bus system at the bottom device level. It is a two-wire network for digital input and output, which complies with EN50295 and IEC62026-2 specifications.
Various types of digital devices can be connected, such as: sensors, limit switches, buttons, valves, relays, light curtains and emergency stop switches, etc., and send signals to higher-level controls such as PC, PLC, CNC or DCS system. In general, AS-I does not require shielded cables and terminal resistors.
The unshielded two-wire cable used carries both the signal and the power. Generally speaking, the AS-I bus system is simple and reliable, easy to install and fast to configure, and is widely used in industrial automation fields such as logistics, automobile production, petrochemical industry, and elevator control.
The As-I Passive Distributor simple module is pierced and connected to the flat cable, which is suitable for installation in a narrow space, and can provide connection methods such as aviation connectors.
