HTC, a pioneer in the global smart mobile device and virtual reality (VR) industry, has partnered with the China Press and Publication Research Institute and Qingdao Publishing Group to launch the “China VR Reading Platform†at the first China Press and Publication VR Application Development Forum. This platform combines cutting-edge VR hardware with a vast collection of digital content, targeting schools, libraries, science museums, cultural centers, bookstores, and tourist attractions nationwide. It offers high-quality, copyrighted materials and immersive VR experiences that transform traditional reading into an innovative and engaging educational journey.
The China VR Reading Platform brings together the expertise of national-level publishing research institutions, leading international VR companies, and top media enterprises. By merging the publishing and tech industries, it delivers diverse VR content—covering education, arts, entertainment, and more—offering people a brand-new way to experience reading through virtual reality. Currently, the platform is already live with popular VR reading packs and educational courses in fields like science, humanities, and sports.
At the heart of this initiative is the Vive Library solution, which follows the “VR + Reading†concept. It simplifies the user experience by offering all-in-one packages that include VR headsets, computers, and monitors. Users can easily purchase and set up the system without going through complicated assembly processes. The Vive Library provides over 80 VR applications, along with access to the VIVEPAPERTM platform, which allows users to bring books, newspapers, and magazines from around the world into a virtual environment.
Vivepaper technology, developed independently by HTC, enhances the VR reading experience by integrating AR and VR. Using the front-facing camera on the Vive headset, it enables a “video-perspective AR†function, allowing users to interact with physical content in a virtual space. This creates an unparalleled level of immersion and interactivity.
HTC Vive remains dedicated to expanding the use of VR across various industries. On November 14th, the “Mobile Future†Developer Summit (VDC2017) will take place in Beijing, where the latest developments in the Vive ecosystem and mobile VR strategies will be unveiled. The event will showcase new content and applications across multiple sectors, including the Vive Library. Stay tuned for exciting updates!
