Broadcom, the network chip maker, has launched a new 5G WiFi chip for entry-level devices that supports the 802.11ac wireless standard. The company today announced the first 5G WiFi combo chip specifically designed for entry-level consumer devices, capable of bringing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM radios to PCs, notebooks, tablets and smartphones on a single chip All functions included.
The second-generation 5G WiFi chip contains the same functions as the company's current product line, but integrates more components and reduces costs. Broadcom's BCM43162 chip is suitable for PC and notebook products; BCM4339 is for tablet computers and smart phones.
At present, these two devices have passed the customer's early trial. Broadcom is expected to increase production in the second half of the year.
