Hanchang Kumho Motor's LED sales in 2010 directly pointed to 100 million US dollars

Kumho Electric, a large lighting fixture maker in South Korea, announced that it will strive to achieve sales of LED-related products of US$100 million (about 680 million yuan) in 2010. The company's 2010 sales forecast is 360 billion won (about 2.16 billion yuan, sales in 2008 was 217.7 billion won), so nearly one-third of sales will be obtained with LED products. Currently, cold cathode fluorescent tubes (CCFLs) also account for the majority of the company's sales.

Kumho Electric produces automotive lamps (90% of Korea's domestic market share), fluorescent tubes for LCD TVs, general lighting products and LED lighting products. Starting from the second quarter of 2010, as a new LED-related business, LEDs for LCD TVs will also be produced. In the future, we plan to use LED modules - automotive lights, backlights for LCD TVs (CCFLs, LEDs), and LED lighting fixtures as the three pillars of sales.

Park Myung Koo, vice president of Kumho Electric, said, "I hope to use the technology and experience accumulated in the lighting market for many years in LED lighting." The company officially began producing LED packages for lighting in 2007. Focusing on the Toyama Plant, we started to produce bulb-type LED lamps. In 2008, we began to develop and sell fluorescent LED tubes. In 2009, it acquired LED packaging companies and LED chip companies. It can be said that in a relatively short period of time, a vertical integration production system from LED chips to lighting fixtures has been established. The company also launched LED lighting products business in Japan, selling bulb-type LED lamps and fluorescent LED tubes under the "Earthcare" brand.

In Korea, which is eager to strengthen the LED lighting industry, in March 2009, it began to implement the domestic standard related to LED lighting equipment - KS certification. Kumho Motor has quickly responded to the KS certification, and its converter built-in type and converter external LED lighting equipment have obtained the No. 1 KS certification.
