First experience of replacing AS15

Yesterday, I came across a post suggesting replacing the AS15 chip. It looked straightforwardâ€”just swap it out. But when I tried it a few days ago, it turned out to be more complicated than expected. I used the exact same model as shown in the post, and here's the image above: Symptoms: The screen was overly bright, and the image was barely visible. The AS15-G was overheating, so I replaced it with an AS15-HF. However, the image remained abnormal, with jagged edges and poor clarity. After checking, I found that R337 had been desoldered during the replacement. I looked up the motherboard's circuit diagram, and R337 is around 1K ohms. I replaced it and repaired the GAMMA voltage divider resistor, but the image still wasn't right. There were many vertical thin lines, and a box appeared on all four sides of the screen. Further inspection revealed that R336 and R340 were open. After replacing them, the test machine worked perfectly. Summary: During night maintenance, the lighting wasnâ€™t great, which made it hard to see the pads clearly. While soldering R337, I accidentally damaged the connections. Then, I had to repair and resolder R336 and R340. This experience taught me that working on PCBs requires good lighting; otherwise, mistakes can easily happen. A faulty GAMMA voltage can cause various image issues like brightness problems, black or white spots, inverted images, loss of detail, and interference lines.
