Tencent Opens New Strategy for "AI" Field for the First Time

Robotics> Robot Network News: Tencent has finally announced a new trend in the field of artificial intelligence: from the "bigger competitors" massive data, the establishment of a new AI and VR strategy.

"The core of competition in artificial intelligence is data. Ultimately, whoever has the most data, whoever has the most abundant scenes will have a stronger competitive edge." At the just-concluded Tencent partner conference, Tencent did not shyly emphasize its own importance. The advantage of data, with big data shared by QQ, WeChat, Damei Group, Didi, Jingdong, and 58 cities, allowed Tencent to quietly occupy an important lifeline in the artificial intelligence era and launched a high-profile attack.

Different from previous years, Tencent focused on the release of the latest research results in the areas of AI open platform, VR open platform, LBS sharing service, and cloud computing smart innovation. At the same time, Tencent also disclosed Tencent’s internal The professional research teams that have been established in these frontier technology fields will constitute an important new direction for Tencent's future development.

Large geographic database is fully open

Tencent’s “geographic sharing” team publicly stated at the conference that they should open their LBS geolocation database free of charge in areas such as logistics, O2O, smart travel, policing, and sports and health.

Does freeware mean no profit? First look at the group data: At present, Tencent has completed 45 billion positionings per day, of which 70% are updated daily, which includes 680 million Wi-Fi information, 90 million base station information, and 30 trillion geographical location data, which is quite The storage capacity of the world’s largest libraries in 90 countries. In tandem with this, Tencent runs up to 200TB of data per day, and this number is still growing rapidly every day. But even so, this amount of data is still not large enough.

Tencent stated that it wants to build the most complete and accurate geolocation database. For ordinary users, every time they send a search for a nearby restaurant, navigate a geographic location, or even send a circle of friends, they are all contributing geographical location data. Next, Tencent wants to “require” data to merchants, launch “Tencent Landlord” certification, and calls on small and medium-sized merchants to independently upload their stores and improve the commercial LBS database.

Once the large LBS database is built, it is powerful. "If the accuracy of the positioning system increases by 0.1%, then for service-guided vehicles, it can reduce 12,000 hours of idle running each day..." Tencent LBS team envisions that in the future, artificial intelligence (AI) based on LBS data construction will be in the urban public Management plays a role.
